About

Richard L. Smith, PhD

I received a Masters of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary in 1992 and a Doctorate in Historical Theology in 1996. From 1995 to 2001, I ministered in Prague, Czech Republic, with the International Institute for Christian Studies (now Global Scholars).

In Prague, I taught a variety of subjects to non-Christians at the Anglo-American College such as: Comparative Religions, Intellectual History, The Bible as Literature, Ecclesiastes, and Business Ethics.  I established evangelical relationships with students through movie discussions, Bible studies, and spending time together. I also served as the Interim President of the college for one year and served on the university’s Founders Board until 2019.

I co-established the Komenský Institute of Prague, a non-profit educational foundation,  published articles about missions in the Evangelical Missions Quarterly, and presented various papers. I was also an Adjunct Professor of New Testament at Biblical Evangelical Seminary.

Since 2010, I have lived and ministered in Buenos Aires, Argentina. and serve as a Senior Advisor for Global Scholars. I manage a website and blog, Cosmovisión Bíblica (Biblical Worldview), teach and speak, develop curriculum, and mentor students.

  1. Richard, great to happen upon you online! So good to see. You might remember or you might’ve forgotten me as an MDiv student at Westminster who graduated in 1994. after Tim Keller taught us in pastoral ministry 101 about the pastoral call, I realized I had a call to pastoring. My interest from conversion on has been in education work for the church. After five years at my home church in Nova Scotia as a minister of education, I did a degree in religion and education at Columbia University. winning a place at my denominations Christian College, I taught education foundations and also the fourth year worldview seminar since 2004. I am now one of two ordained people on the faculty, continuing to bang on about Christian faith in scholarship/ teaching. I had not heard of the SCS until T Turnau’s talk came up in my feed. I presented at the Reformational IAPCHE now INCHE in 2009 in Holland. It d be great to catch up more.
